Commission Work

This process allows me to provide customers with unique, personalized jewellery that reflects their individual tastes and preferences while ultimately allowing me to showcase skills available, The commission process typically involves several stages, including consultation, design, production, and delivery.

During the initial consultation, the jeweller engages with the client to understand their vision, preferences, and budget. This stage is crucial, as it sets the foundation for the entire project. According to industry standards, approximately 70% of successful commissions stem from effective communication during this phase. I often take notes and may sketch preliminary designs or pictures you have or a composition of all to ensure alignment with the client's expectations. It may even be an exact replica of a piece you have seen or owned in the past.

Once the design is agreed upon, the jeweller moves to the production phase. This stage can vary significantly in duration, depending on the complexity of the piece and the materials involved. For instance, handcrafted pieces may take anywhere from a few days to several weeks to complete. 

Materials play a critical role in commission work. I source high-quality gemstones, metals, and other materials that meet your specifications. This can include items of jewellery you wish to incorporate and remodel into your new piece. 

Pricing for commission work can be complex, as it often involves various factors such as material costs, labour, and design intricacies. However,  you are coming direct to the tradesman so I can reduce many of the overheads involved in a retail environment maintaining excellent quality and craftmanship.
